Synopsis and Discussion

Particle pollution remains low and code GREEN, Monday, as brisk NW winds keep the air mass well mixed and clean. Winds will decrease significantly overnight into Tuesday. Clouds will also be on the increase ahead of an approaching winter storm. The combination of light winds and cloud cover, Tuesday, will lead to much greater low level air mass stagnation and higher, low code YELLOW, particle pollution readings. Winter weather, mainly snow, will develop throughout the Triad, Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. MODERATE particle pollution levels will persist through Wednesday, as the winter precipitation does not appear to be enough to overcome the higher levels until Thursday. A return to code GREEN particle pollution can be expected Thursday, as the storm exits the region (GENTRY).
