Yesterday’s smoky air mass has largely cleared out and particle pollution levels are in the upper Code Green range. Readings should remain near the Code Green/Yellow threshold to round out the workweek with trajectories shortening and the current air mass remaining in place. As wind speeds become light on Saturday, particle pollution levels are expected to climb into the lower Code Yellow range and remain there on Sunday with the next storm system holding off until Monday. March 1st is the first day of ozone monitoring and forecasting season in North Carolina and Code Green ozone readings are anticipated for the latter half of the weekend.
