The Forsyth County Office of Environmental Assistance and Protection (FCEAP) continues to monitor conditions at the site of the recent fire at the fertilizer facility located in the 4400 block of North Cherry Street in northern Winston-Salem. With remaining hot spots being few in number and small in size, smoke emissions are now very low. In the absence of any flare ups, offsite impacts to air quality in nearby areas are expected to be remain very low to nonexistent while continuing to decline. Enhanced air monitoring immediately around the site and in nearby areas will continue for as long as needed. FCEAP will provide updates, as needed, until local impacts to air quality completely subside.
