Forsyth County Deputy County Manager Shontell Robinson will be recognized as a 2021 Outstanding Women in Business Award Recipient by Triad Business Journal at a virtual ceremony in June.
Robinson was promoted to her position as deputy county manager in January 2020, becoming the director of Health and Human Services. By March, Forsyth had its first diagnosed cases of COVID-19. She’s overseen the Forsyth County Department of Public Health’s fight against COVID-19 which has included contact tracing, community testing events, educational outreach and advertising campaigns, the establishment of a temporary COVID-19 shelter for the homeless, regular briefings and releases to the media and the current COVID-19 vaccination efforts. She’s helped lead the dedicated staff of Public Health, which have worked overtime to combat the pandemic, and can often be found personally overseeing testing and vaccination sites.
“Shontell is a driven servant leader and a strong communicator,” said Forsyth County Manager Dudley Watts. “She develops effective teams with high expectations and nurtures success in a caring and personal way. She believes that anything worth doing should be done with excellence and then immerses her seemingly endless energy into every initiative.”
As deputy county manager, Robinson also oversees Social Services, Human Resources, Community and Economic Development, Behavioral Health, Court Diversion Programs, Family Justice Center and MapForsyth.
She was previously the Human Resources Director for Forsyth County Government, overseeing a department that served the county’s 2,000 employees. She was the first African American to hold that position.
