This year North Carolina Cooperative Extension at North Carolina A&T State University celebrated their 35th annual Small Farms Week. Small Farms Week is an annual event that salutes small farmers across North Carolina. This year, Small Farms took place virtually during the week of March 21-27, 2021. This week offered a variety of educational programs that were designed to inform the public about their agricultural neighbors and provide research-based information to help support small-scale farmers.
This year youth had the opportunity to participate in a virtual cook-off challenge. There were three different divisions that youth could participate in. In their challenge, they had to have a recipe that met the MyPlate nutritional guidelines, ingredients and their importance, and the cost if others wanted to make it for their family. Youth cooked and presented all items in the comforts of their home for judges.
We would like to acknowledge the following Forsyth County 4-Her’s that participated and won in their respective category:
Intermediate Division: Rachel Patton- 1st Place Sarah Patton-3rd Place Otto Hellinger-4th Place
Jr. Division: Clotilde Hellinger- 1st Place

We would like to extend the biggest congratulations to all participants from Forsyth County.
