Tanglewood Park offers a unique place to stay

Tanglewood Park is an amazing place to visit, but have you ever thought about staying there?

Located within the 1,100 acre park, the Manor House Bed and Breakfast lets guests stay in a historic home that’s convenient to all the amenities of Forsyth County’s largest park. The Manor House was built by William Johnson in 1859, and expanded after tobacco magnate William Neal Reynolds and his wife, Kate, bought the land in 1921. The family left the manor to the citizens of Forsyth County, which it maintains as a unique place to stay and hold events. It’s a quiet, peaceful place that makes guests feel like they’re living in their own estate.

“It is just beautiful,” said County Parks and Recreations’ Pam Vynalek. “It is a step back in time to a different era.”

The Manor House has ten bedrooms and has a mix of genuine antique and reproduction furnishings, including original staircases and crystal chandeliers. It also has all the modern conveniences guests would expect like wi-fi, mini-fridges, coffee makers, televisions, clock radios, telephones and private baths. A specially prepared breakfast by the Manor House chef is served in the mornings to guests.

“The best thing is it’s a historic bed and breakfast right in the heart of Tanglewood Park,” said Kimberly Busse, who acts as Tanglewood’s innkeeper. “So you get a little bit of history, a little bit of pampering and the convenience there with the golf courses, the tennis courts, the horseback riding, the Arboretum and all the recreational activities that are located in this huge, beautiful park.”

Tanglewood is currently offering a Valentine’s Day Package for a romantic getaway that includes one night’s stay, a handmade luxury bouquet from Dahlia’s Floral Designs in Clemmons and breakfast for two in the morning. The package runs Feb.12-18, 2019 and is $200 a night for Master Rooms, $175 a night for Standard Rooms and $145 for the Tanglewood Room.

The Manor House is a popular place to tie the knot and offers a variety of wedding packages that include the opportunity to rent the whole house overnight. It’s also used by golfers, tourists, local residents just looking to get away and people attending special events like Southern Charm, the North Carolina Wine Festival, Tour to Tanglewood and Festival of Lights. It can also be a great place to stay for those visiting the area for major regional events like the High Point Furniture Market.

The Manor House also has spaces available to rent for meetings and receptions like a Trophy Room with library and front veranda. There’s also the Rock Fireplace Room and 20’s Room for smaller events.

Along with the Manor House, Tanglewood also has a Guest House and Guest Apartment that are available for rent. The Guest House, originally used by the Reynolds family for visitors, has a large porch, living room, gas fireplace, dining room, kitchen, bar room, three bedrooms with double beds and two bedrooms with single beds.

The Guest Apartment is behind the Manor House and adjacent to the Guest House on the second floor of the Gardner’s Office. It has three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen with kitchen table and one full bath.
