On May 15-17, 2015, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Office of Emergency Management along with the Lewisville Fire Department is offering the Community Emergency Response Team 21-hour Basic Training Course at the Lewisville Fire Department located at 216 Lewisville Clemmons Road, Lewisville, NC 27023.
Disasters can severely restrict and overwhelm emergency response resources and leave communities cut off from outside emergency support. CERTs are trained to take care of themselves and help others in their communities for the first three days following a disaster. Some of the topics discussed are: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology and Terrorism. Participants receive hands on training and practice on how to use a fire extinguisher, basic triage, basic first aid, and light search and rescue.
Upon successful completion, students are eligible to join Forsyth CERT. However, you’re not required to join a team in order to register for the course. All participants must be 18 or older. Course will be limited to the first 25 qualified registrants. Register today at: https://terms.ncem.org/TRS/home.do.
