A low cost rabies vaccination clinic, sponsored by the Forsyth Spay Day Coalition, will be held at the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. Only 1 year vaccinations will be available. Only cash transactions accepted. Dogs, cats and ferrets only. Dogs must be leashed. Cats and ferrets must be in carriers.
All proceeds support the Forsyth Spay Day fund providing vouchers to assist low income households with the cost of altering their pets.
In recognition of SPAY DAY local private and public organizations have formed a partnership, and combined resources, to reduce pet overpopulation in Forsyth County by providing spay/neuter vouchers to very low-income residents of Forsyth County.
Each year Forsyth County Animal Control shelters over 8,000 animals. Only about 2,300 will be recovered by their owners, or find new homes. Approximately 3,000 of these dogs and cats are turned over to the shelter by their owners and one third will be a puppy or kitten. The leading animal welfare organizations in the nation have determined that spaying and neutering is a fundamental element of responsible pet ownership and the key to reducing the number of unwanted pets. This voucher program is a great opportunity to save some money and make a difference!
This year, the Spay Day event will be held on Saturday February 22, 2014 at various locations throughout Forsyth County. In order to qualify, pet owners must be on government assistance and a resident of Forsyth County. Please bring proof of income, proof of residency, and cash. The vouchers cost $10.
The Forsyth Spay Coalition consists of members of Forsyth County Animal Control, Humane Solution Spay/Neuter Program, Forsyth Humane Society, AARF, Fur-Ever Friends of NC, Project Pearl and the Forsyth Veterinary Medical Association.
