Local Health Professional Headlines June Open Mike

Forsyth County Public Library is pleased to host Adrienne Ross, a care manager with the Northwest Community Care Network, as the featured performer for the June 2011 Open Mike Night slated for June 28th at 7 p.m.

Ross has written poetry for a long time, but began performing her work publicly at open mikes in 2009. Since April 2009, Ross has performed monthly at local “Art of Change” events sponsored by LaShun Huntley and the Men of Action. Ross also performs at Krankie’s open mike events, and at many other gatherings and celebrations.

Earlier this year, Ross created Sounds of ConSoulation, a bereavement ministry that offers sacred songs and poetry, and provides resources and support to those in our community who are grieving the loss of a loved one. She describes this ministry as a work in progress.

While Ross is the featured performer this month, all members of the public are invited to participate in Open Mike Night by sharing their original works or reciting some of their favorites. The optional theme this month is “Peace,” and light refreshments will be served at this event. Visitors may also simply come to observe the performers.
