On the Same Poem Luncheon

Project Hope Poet and Pulitzer grantee Kwame Dawes is coming to Forsyth County Public Library. The award-winning poet, novelist, scholar, and humanitarian is the featured poet for Forsyth County Public Library’s On the Same Poem Luncheon.

The On the Same Poem Luncheon has become a staple of National Poetry Month in Forsyth County. An extension of On the Same Page—the county’s annual Community Read project, On the Same Poem centers on the shared experience of reading and discussing a single poem, selected for the occasion by the featured poet.

Mr. Dawes will be reading “School House” from Wisteria at the beginning of the luncheon. Over a brown bag lunch, participants will discuss the poem, facilitated by discussion leaders at each table. The luncheon will conclude with Mr. Dawes taking part in a Q & A session. See our website for more information and links to sites about our visiting poet. Visit www.forsythlibrary.org for more information about this event including a profile on the featured poet, links to other poetry sites and archival information on past On the Same Poem events. To reserve your seat for Kwame Dawes call 703-3053 or e-mail brennacm@forsythlibrary.org. Thursday, April 23 at 12:30 pm in the Central Library auditorium.
