Synopsis and Discussion

A dry air mass residing over the Triad has kept skies clear and winds light, allowing ozone production to increase and elevate air quality levels into the lower Code YELLOW range. A frontal boundary currently well to the south of the Carolinas will begin to slowly advance northward tomorrow, likely increasing cloud cover for Saturday morning. Ozone levels will likely be affected early on, but another shot of drier air advances from the northeast to push the boundary back south during the afternoon to let ozone AQI reach the upper end of the Code GREEN range. Cooler and drier conditions on Sunday will likely limit pollution production, keeping air quality levels Code GREEN. Chances of rain increase on Monday, with increasing cloud cover keeping ozone and particle pollution Code GREEN. (Payne)
