Moderate particle pollution concentrations are being observed area wide on Saturday. A fast moving cold front is slated to roll through the Triad tomorrow, ushering in a much cleaner air mass. With the front now projected to arrive around midday, daily particle pollution averages are expected to net out in the upper Code Green range although hourly readings will remain Code Yellow until the front arrives. The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the northern and central Triad on Sunday due to gusty winds associated with the cold front. Good air quality is on tap for Monday as a clean air mass filters in behind the front. As high pressure moves overhead on Tuesday, light surface winds and the potential for nocturnal temperature inversions will likely cause particle pollution levels to climb into the lower Code Yellow range.
