Elder Abuse Awareness Walk is June 15 at Triad Park

The Piedmont Triad Eighth Annual Elder Abuse Awareness Walk, Stroll and Roll will take place June 15 at Triad Park, 9652 E. Mountain St, in Kernersville.

Registration and a vendor fair will start at 9 a.m. The opening ceremony and walk kick-off will be at 10 a.m. Wrap-up is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Online registration is available at www.ptrc.org/walk.

There will be free t-shirts, available while supplies last, on a first-come, first-served basis. The event also features free document shredding, free health screenings, music, food and informational booths.

The walk is designed to bring awareness to the issue of elder abuse. Every year, an estimated 2.1 million older Americans are victims of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation. For every case of elder abuse or neglect that is reported, it’s estimated as many as five cases are not.

The event is hosted by the Piedmont Triad Regional Council Area Agency on Aging.
