Piedmont Triad Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Join the Alzheimer’s Association at Tanglewood Park on Saturday, September 22, 2012 for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s—a fun and inspiring way to raise critically needed funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research!

Meet at Tanglewood’s Shelter 2 where registration begins at 8:00 am, and the Walk begins at 9:00 am. Although there is no registration fee for this event, all walkers are encouraged to make a personal donation and raise money for the cause. Raise $100 or more and receive a 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer's t-shirt!

The Alzheimer's Association is the featured non-profit for the 2012 Carolina Oktoberfest. All walkers who wear their purple wristband received at the Walk when they register/check-in will receive a 50% discount at the gate for Oktoberfest admission.

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic that is now the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. It is estimated that someone in America develops Alzheimer's disease every 68 seconds. By mid-century someone will develop Alzheimer’s disease every 33 seconds, and it is the only disease in the top 10 causes of death that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed.

With more than 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer's, and over 11 million more serving as caregivers, the time to act is now!
